Gui-Gui Beach in Gran Canaria – Need to Know

Mountain or beach? It’s always a hard decision. Guess what, in Gui Gui beach, you can have both!

As all the good things take time and effort, it’s not easy to get to this amazing beach. However, if you want to experience a pure nature, it’s definitely worth it.

Hike starting point. Only 5km to go!

  • How to get to Gui gui beach

The best way to get to Gui gui beach is to hike from Tasartico. It takes around an hour and half from Las Palmas or an hour from Maspalomas. You can also take bus, number 99 from Las palmas and 33 from Maspalomas. From Tasartico, it’s 5km hike to the beach.

  • Parking

There are some parking spots right under the mountain where the route starts. Otherwise, there are few more around 5 minutes before arriving to Tasartico.

  • When to go

The best is to go as early as possible, start to hike no later than 10am, since during the day the sun could be very strong.

  • Tips

If you decide to do this route to visit Gui gui park, please don’t make the same mistake as me, thinking it’s going to be an easy hike, unless you are a skilled hiker. I went there with no preparation whatsoever; I was in my running shoes and denim shorts. Make sure to wear proper hiking gears as there are so many little rocks on the floor that will make it super slippery. Also, prepare enough water and food, as there’s no supermarkets nor restaurants.

As you are passing about halfway, you will see this amazing view of mountain and beach. It’s the moment of when mountain meets beach.

When mountain meets beach

Trust me, you will forget how sweating you are and just mesmerize of the view. Enjoy it as much as you can and take some time to rest because from this point it’s all downhill.

Taking a well deserved break

As I briefly mentioned above, going down is not so easy if you don’t wear proper shoes. Little rocks make the road slippery. Personally, I slod at lease 10 times and fell down once really badly.

As the last part of the hike, you will pass dunes.

After that, you finally made it to Guigui beach!

When I saw this view, I felt like all my efforts were paying off and I was super proud of myself.

There’s no wifi & Nudism is allowed.

  • How long does it take to get to Gui gui beach?

When I was looking up the information about it, most of the sources calculated 1 and half to 2 hours maximum to go up and down. In my experience as a non-skilled hiker and not equipped properly, took around 3 hours and half each way.

  • Is it worth going to Gui gui beach?

If you like to hike and also want to take time in one of the most untouched natural beaches, this is a perfect place for you. For me personally, it was not really worth it, because I am not a big fan of difficult hiking. There are many other great beaches in Gran Canary that’s more accessible. However, I must say that the view was truly amazing, and it was a memorable challenge and a big highlight of my trip.
